BICYCLE RIDERS need to take more responsibility for their own safety in the wake of a spate of cyclists' deaths, one of London's top police officers has said. Chief Superintendent Glyn Jones's comments came after launching a new initiative that will see 2,500 officers being asked to reinforce traffic rules in the capital's most notorious black spots from tomorrow. The initiative was in response to the worrying statistic that six cyclists have been killed on London's roads in two weeks.
A 42-year-old Brit gave his dog away after the border collie-spaniel mix chewed the fiberglass fender of his Aston Martin DB9 Volante while he was away from home, the Daily Mail reports. Royston Grimstead, from Somerset, England, told the Mail he was already contemplating giving his dog, Luce, away because she didn't get along with his other dog. Cadillac has revealed the ELR: a production version of the highly-acclaimed Converj concept revealed at the 2009 NAIAS in Detroit. The new luxury coupe will be equipped with extended-range electric vehicle technology – essentially a T-shaped lithium ion battery powering an electric drive unit mated to a a four-cylinder engine-generator, which propels the car when the battery's energy is low. "There's no mistaking it for anything but a Cadillac, an aggressive, forward-leaning profile and proportion showcases a uniquely shaped, modern vision of a personal luxury 2+2," said Ed Welburn, GM vice president, Global Design. Welburn also stated that the Converj concept sparked the idea of combining the desirability of a grand touring coupe with electrification.
